I’ve done several photo sessions for the Fishers over the years, but this one has to be my favorite. This beautiful family is spending their last night in their first home this week. They’re moving to Switzerland for a 3 year job assignment, and while they’re excited about this new adventure, they also say the move is bittersweet. It’s the first house they’ve owned, it’s the place they brought their babies home to, it’s where they’ve developed friendships, formed running groups, and fished in the backyard… it’s a home that will always hold a special place in their heart.

Heather reached out to me a few months ago letting me know they were going to need to cancel their fall photo session because they were moving overseas. I think the lightbulb went off in both of our heads at the same time, because as I was typing a reply about to suggest a lifestyle session, she messaged me back saying “hey, maybe we should do a session at our house before we move.” Yes, please. The Fishers are wonderful people. They’re involved in their church, our community, they have a close knit group of friends, and Riley and Reese are the sweetest, most polite kids you will ever come across. I was so happy to capture this special time for them.

During our session, they told me about their trip to Switzerland to find a house, and a school for the kids. They found a school they loved and were fortunate enough to snag spots for both the kids, but the house hunt was not as successful. Fortunately, they’ll have time to look some more once they make the move. I asked them what they’ll miss most when they move and I think they said in unison “peanut butter!” Who knew that wasn’t a thing in Switzerland? They said they’ll get by just fine though on Nutella. One thing they are looking forward to is the family centered lifestyle. Heather said it’s forbidden to take emails or calls when you’re off work, and vacation is strongly encouraged. Ugh, sounds awful, right? They also said all school activities and sports take place immediately after school, so that families can spend their evenings together at home. I could get used to that.

Thank you so much for letting me be a tiny part of this big adventure. I wish you all the best on this next chapter and can’t wait to follow your story over the next 3 years. We’ll miss you Fisher Family.
