So many babies, so little time for blogging and properly gushing over them! I met Miss Mara at her family’s beautiful home that feels like a country getaway smack dab in the middle of Indianapolis. I was greeted by baby Mara, mom Ashley, dad Logan, and their two fur babies.

Mara was awake and alert for much of the session making incredible eye contact with the camera. She comfortably dozed though while being snuggled by mom and dad. Mara’s nursery (and the entire house) was adorably decorated. Ashley and Logan didn’t find out the gender until she was born, so they decorated her nursery in grays and blues, with metal and wood accents, and with their precious little lady in there it felt equal parts feminine and fierce.

The outdoors are a big part of life for Ashley and Logan, so it was important that we captured them in their element. Their home is truly an outdoor-lover’s paradise. They sit on a large lot overlooking the White River with a huge front yard, beautiful trees and landscaping, and plenty of outdoor activities right in their backyard. During our initial consultation, Ashley told me that Logan REALLY wanted to get a shot of him and the baby in the hammock, so I made sure to make that happen. We also included their pups in the some of the photos, they were surprisingly cooperative and I loved the way they were sniffing and “protecting” their new baby. I shot right up until we lost the sun and got some gorgeous photos on their dock overlooking the river, I have no doubt Mara will be kayaking with her parents out there by the time she can walk.

I absolutely loved getting to know this family and I hope to continue photographing Mara as she grows. And even if not, I hope Ashley and Logan just invite me over to hang out at their super fun house.
