I was so excited to finally meet Jess, Josh, and newborn baby girl Arya last week. Miss Arya Jean took her time getting to her newborn session because she took her time coming into the world. Jess was 41 weeks and 4 days when Arya was born!

Josh and Jess met when they were both in college at Anderson University. They’ve been together for almost 10 years. It took them a year and a half to get pregnant with Arya. Jess said she could not believe they were actually expecting, but they both felt so blessed.

Josh and Jess both love fantasy and superheros. Jess told us everyone she knew thought she would name her daughter Hermione. I understood why when she showed me the items she brought it for Arya’s newborn session! There was a Gryffindor scarf and knitted blanket, Harry Potter glasses, and Hermione’s wand, as well as the final Harry Potter book- The Deathly Hallows. I had the best time doing the Harry Potter pictures. When I wrapped up Arya in the scarf she looked so snug. I used a little wooden crate and baby girl wrapped her fingers perfectly around the wand for one pose.

Arya’s middle name- Jean- is also one of the character’s middle name as well, so while Jess decided to go with Arya instead of Hermione, she snuck a little Harry Potter into her name after all.

Arya was a sleepy baby for her session, I never did see her eyes. I got so many good poses of this baby girl, it was so hard to choose which to share!
