I had a really special session this past week, 7 lb 11 oz Charles Richard came into my studio for his newborn session. He was a bundle of baby boy joy! Normally newborn sessions take place when baby is under 14 days old, but baby Charlie was actually 57 days new when we got him in front of the camera.
Sabrina was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia early on in her pregnancy, so to keep mom and baby safe doctors had to deliver Charlie at 29 weeks gestation. He was born a perfectly healthy baby on June 12th, at just 2 lbs 7 oz, and 15 inches long. He only needed oxygen, and thankfully Mom’s blood pressure was back to normal within hours of his birth.
Both Mom and Dad grew up in Indianapolis, and met when they went to Cathedral High School. They have been together fourteen years, and married for two. They were so excited when they found out they were expecting Charlie. After spending the summer in the NICU, they both looked over the moon to have their sweet baby boy out of the hospital and home with them. They are thrilled to be able to spend more time with Charlie’s grandparents and great-grandparents. Charlie’s middle name is after his maternal grandfather, Richard.
Charlie spent the entire session making the cutest grunting noises. Even at 12 weeks old, he was still so sleepy and posed like a pro for me! Mom and Dad brought in customized hats they had made for Charlie to wear in the NICU, they looked so cute on his tiny frame. Dad commented how big Charlie looks to them now, even though he’s just now a “typical” newborn size. There is a big difference between two pounds and seven pounds!
I had prepared Sabrina that typical newborn poses might prove to be a challenge since Charlie was a little older, but baby boy showed me! I got so many shots of him in props and wrapped up and even curled up nakey on his tummy! Here’s a look at this precious baby boy’s newborn session.
