Kate and Pete came in with their sweet little baby girl Clara Jayne for her newborn session. I instantly loved this little family, they were so sweet and so much fun in front of the camera.

The couple met while they were both attending Notre Dame for their undergrads. They were both working on designing a Humor Artist t-shirt when they met. I think that must have been a sign how full of laughter their lives would be. Storm Troopers crashed their wedding two years ago, and if that wasn’t funny, I don’t know what is!

While we were doing the family poses, Pete told us about how Clara made her dramatic entrance into the world. Because it was January, and because this is Indiana, she arrived on a day we were experiencing an ice storm. Thankfully they were able to make it to the hospital after Kate’s water broke at around 12:30 because Clara was born at 2:44 pm. They made it to the hospital just in time!

Pete’s grandfather also graduated from Notre Dame in 1948 and they brought in his prayer book to include in Clara’s newborn session. She tightened her little fingers around it immediately and looked so content as she held it. They also brought in the exact t-shirt they were designing when they met. It looked so cute when I swaddled it around their baby girl.

Kate and Pete said community engagement is very important to them, and explained how they believe we are all in this together. I loved that, and am sure Clara will have an amazing village around her helping to raise her well.
