I was so excited when I found out Stephanie was booking her newborn session! This is her first baby, and I’ve done family sessions for her siblings, so I was truly looking forward to seeing her and her sweet new baby girl.
Stephanie and Brent came in with 6 lb 4 oz Lucy Jane Reinking last week and she was pure perfection. She was petite but had the longest, most elegant fingers I’ve ever seen on a baby. Stephanie said Brent’s mom pointed out what a good piano player that would make her. Brent says she would make an even better R&B Bass player! Brent plays the guitar, so she’ll be musical no matter what.
Baby girl’s newborn session was so easy. She stayed asleep the whole session, not a peep to be made, and everything looked good on her.
Sadly, a couple of weeks after Stephanie and Brent found out they were expecting, Brent’s father passed away. A friend of his mother’s had some of his shirts made into pillows for the family. They called them Poppie’s pillows. Lucy’s was a pale yellow and they kept the pocket from the shirt so she could even use it for the tooth fairy someday. I know that Poppie was looking down on this baby girl and smiling, and she will always feel safe when snuggling her pillow.
Since Lucy’s newborn session was technically still in the fall, and since she just looked so gorgeous in the set up, I used my tree bark bucket with a dark yellow bump and this girl was a true vision of autumn. Her nursery has mint green in the decor, so I curled her up on a mint green blanket with a fuzzy green wrap. I loved how light and fresh she looked against that color.
I was lucky enough to see Lucy again within a week for extended family pictures, and if it’s possible, she got even cuter!
