A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a second newborn session for Kellie and Chuck with their two week old daughter, Rachel. When Kellie contacted me about the new baby, I couldn’t believe it had been over a year ago that I had photographed their first little girl!

We started with family and sibling shots because you never know how long a toddler will tolerate being in front of the camera. Sweet Katherine was a little bit shy, but so cooperative and gentle with her baby sister. She put up with me for longer than most 21-month olds would, and even tolerated an outfit change!

Once we were done with the happy family of four it was time for Rachel’s solo shoot! Spring certainly has inspired me to use more color, and I have to say there wasn’t a spring hue that didn’t look good with baby Rachel’s skin tone! Rachel was a dream in a knit green wrap from Prop Me Up Shop nestled in a basket. She had the sweetest little smirk on her lips!

Rachel was just over 8 pounds, so she was the perfect size to fill out my wooden tree stump bucket! I love the contrast between the burlap underneath and the mustard yellow bump both from Whatsoever Things.

Since I did Katherine’s newborn session as well, we made sure to recreate a few of the same poses. Mom particularly loved a rhinestone headband that I used with Katherine and fortunately I still had it and was able to do a similar set-up for Miss Rachel!

Rachel’s nursery is lavender, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that into our session. I got Rachel to pose in my favorite newborn position, all squished up with tons of baby rolls on her back, with a darling lavender bonnet. And,with Easter right around the corner, I couldn’t resist using my bunny lovey and some pastel pink to round out our session.

Katherine and Chuck left after the family shots, and Kellie hung out in the studio with me and caught up on some work while I got to snuggle on baby Rachel. Kellie was so laid back and put together, especially after just having a baby with a 1-year old at home, and a very demanding career – I was in awe of her calmness (I should have taken notes!) It was so great seeing this lovely family again, and I do hope to photograph more Weddle babies in the future! No pressure Chuck and Kellie 😉
