Indianapolis Newborn Photographer | Raw Sugar Photography
Right before spring break, I had little Miss Winona Joy in my studio at just seven days new. Natalie, Pete, and new big brother Oakley, came with Winnie for her newborn session, and she was the epitome of content the entire time.
I normally do parent and sibling shots first thing to get them out of the way, especially when siblings are still young themselves, as Oakley is! Big brother Oakley wanted nothing to do with taking pictures with his sister. Winnie probably shouldn’t take it personally, Mom had said Oakley wasn’t a fan of taking photographs in general. As you can see from the one shot of the two of them I got, sometimes you can give it your all and it still doesn’t work out perfectly. I have a feeling, later on mom and dad will look back at that imperfection and be able to laugh with their son and daughter about it!
Winnie was one of calmest newborns of all time. She loved being wrapped, she loved being in props, she loved being naked, she even let me put pants on her- which I only do with the chillest of newborns! In fact, I didn’t see Winnie’s eyes until the very end of her session when she was WIDE awake. She just stared intensely at the camera!
My assistant and I kept gushing over every set up with Winnie, causing mom to rush in from the waiting area to see what we were ooo-ing and ahhh-ing about! I’m sure a few images with still end up a surprise though.
Winnie was perfectly posed in the cutest little pink flowered headband and matching wrap from The Indy Cottage Prop Shop. She curled up just like she was in her mama’s tummy and was completely at peace.
Of course, I’m a neutral junkie so we he had to do some white. I used one of my all-time favorite headbands fromĀ Lela’s Props. Again, Winnie let me do as I pleased while posing her and and even gave me a little smirk! I decided since she was so laid-back I would attempt a pant set (also from Lela’s) – I’m not usually a fan of trying to get sleeping babies into clothing, but she cooperated perfectly.
In the end, I decided to do a sage green set-up, because really I could have posed her all day long, and that is when she woke up and let me photograph those beautiful dark blue eyes of hers!
Thank you so much Natalie and Pete for sharing your beautiful family with me, here is a peak into our session!
